Visualise positions in a quadrant with multiple dimensions
Quadrant is a working method for discussing abstract goals, considerations or priorities in a nuanced way. Participants work with two axes that together form a plane. The facilitator defines two concepts or directions per axis that guide the discussion, and asks participants to determine their position in the plane by placing a dot.
The result is a visual overview in which differences, nuances and patterns become immediately apparent. Participants can explain their position, and the facilitator can steer the discussion by, for example, discussing contrasting or striking positions first. This quickly leads to a substantive discussion, without one perspective setting the tone.
As with other pointer working methods, participants remain close to their own experience. Because everyone first chooses their position individually, the framework of the conversation is not shaped by the first speaker, but by the collective visualisation. This leads to a more balanced dialogue and a more accurate representation of the views within the group.
The Quadrant can now also be set no-peer influence! See our feature updates!
