Taking part in sessions across various rooms

Discussion carousel

Want your stakeholders to really get involved? Then one plenary session might not cut it. A popular approach is the carousel format: participants rotate between different sessions, allowing you to explore multiple sides of a topic. QandR works great in this kind of setup. With a fixed QR code per facilitator, people can easily log in—even if they join a session halfway through.

Rijkswaterstaat recently used QandR in just this way, in their project carousel for Gebiedsopgave Centraal Holland. There were sessions in multiple rooms, each led by its own moderator. Participants moved from room to room, with the same session repeated for each new group. QandR automatically gathered all the results, giving a clear overview at the end.

Challenge:
Getting different interests to the surface quickly within a partnership

Method:
Mainly physical meetings with pointers, wordclouds, sticky notes, mood boards and polls.

Number:
50 participants

QandR was new to Rijkswaterstaat, but they were very pleased with how this setup worked out.

During the 'Zoetwatersessie', I used QandR. Compared to Mentimeter, I find QandR a clear improvement. In particular, the addition of interactive elements such as sticky notes offers more opportunities for engagement and collaboration. I found this feature to be a valuable addition. QandR makes interactive sessions more dynamic and better tailored to participants' input.

Of course, the carousel format is just one way to use QandR. Another approach is to keep sessions open, so people can jump in whenever it suits them. The facilitator can then move between questions and build on what earlier participants have contributed. Super flexible. At Rijkswaterstaat, the fixed QR code was simply posted on the door, so everyone could log in right as they walked in and join the interactive session—easy and accessible.
